Case size: 1,600 individual thermometers (20 boxes of 80 units)
The Tempa•DOT™ AX is an Axillary, Single-Use Clinical Thermometer. There are times when an oral thermometer is not practical, due to the type of patient, the patient’s condition, or personal preference. For example, young children who have difficulty sitting still, or patients with sores in their mouth, are better served with an axillary thermometer. The Tempa•DOT™ Axillary thermometer is individually wrapped, and prevents against the spread of infections just as the other Tempa•DOT™ products do.
1. Unwrap the thermometer and remove adhesive backing
2. Place thermometer high in underarm with adhesive side against the body
3. Close patient’s arm and hold in place for 3 minutes
4. Remove thermometer and wait 10 seconds
5. Read the temperature scale by locating last blue dot
6. Discard after use
The thermometers display readings of 98.6°F and 38.7°C. After the 10 second wait time, the temperature reading is permanently locked in.
Range: 96.0°F to 104.8°F or 35.5°C to 40.4°C
Accuracy: ±0.2ºF or ±0.1ºC
Tempa•DOT™ AX’s accuracy is the same as, or better than, other thermometers commonly used in a healthcare setting. Each of the dots has its own formulated temperature point that fires at a specific temperature. When a dot fires, its color changes from brown to blue. The number of dots that fire is dependent upon the patient’s temperature. The last blue dot provides the accurate temperature reading.
It is important to remember that axillary temperature readings are routinely lower than corresponding oral temperature readings. This difference is normal and expected.
